MEDIA GATHERS FOR RED CARPET AWARDS

Ninety three key influencers from the home interest press joined leading industry figures at Claridges for the 5th Red Carpet Awards. Organised by the Carpet Foundation, the awards recognise editorial coverage for carpet in magazines and newspapers, as well as TV programmes.

More and more is being written about carpet than ever before and the Red Carpet Awards have played a major role in achieving this attitudinal shift in the media. The last 12 months has seen extensive press coverage and not surprisingly, a record number of entries were received. In three hotly contested categories, the winners were:

Best Article or Feature - Country Living (September 2004)

Best Use of Carpet in a Decorating/Interior scheme - BBC Good Homes (February 2005)

Best Makeover - Prima (March 2005)

A special recognition award for her unstinting support of the Carpet Foundation was given to Claire Dorey of Country Homes & Interiors.

As in previous, the Awards attracted a fantastic panel of judges which comprised Nina Campbell, the internationally renowned interior designer; Cath Kidston, product designer; Fiona Fullerton, actress, writer and property expert; Eamonn Holmes, TV presenter; Brian Viner, columnist with The Independent; Sir Nicholas Lloyd, former editor of the Daily Express; John Duncan, chairman of the Carpet Foundation and Paul Phillips of Sunniva Carpeting.

Rupert Anton, marketing director of the Carpet Foundation commented: "More and more is being written about carpet than ever before. No one has better journalist links than we do and it is encouraging to hear that the Red Carpet Awards really are now firmly established in the media calendar and do influence journalists and stylists."
